Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle.
The world you desired can be won. It exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours. ~ Ayn Rand
It has been a long time in the planning, 3 years long, and it’s changed quite considerably from how we started out planning to do it all. Dates were set, dates were postponed, three people became two, but one thing that never changed was the dream. A dream to travel to Africa and yes even though I live in South Africa – the same continent, Africa is different. I have always felt such a deep calling to travel there and to meet her people. Along with that dream came the dream to summit Kilimanjaro. I don’t recall where this dream came from or where it started, it is almost as if it’s just always been there. A longing, calling my name.
Since this afternoon I have been bouncing around in happy, giddy circles. I run towards my greatest dreams and my craziest ideas because I know they hold magic and power. My booking forms are in and money has changed hands and my dream continues to unfold right before my very eyes.
It is confirmed, Donna and I are due to leave for Tanzania on the 6th of July this year, just two months and three days away! Fingers crossed, with all going well, Donna and I will summit Kilimanjaro together on the morning of 13 July. We will stand on top of the world’s tallest, free-standing mountain, 19,341 feet (5,895 m) ~ high above the clouds we will get to witness one of the most beautiful sunrises we have ever seen in our lives! I don’t even have to close my eyes to feel myself standing on top, it envelopes my whole body and I am overwhelmed by what awaits the two of us.

Walt Disney was right when he said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” My life has plenty of struggles like any other person, but through all the difficult times my life continues to unfold in the most miraculous way. These are moments I have dreamed about for so long. Feeling such huge gratitude for everything that has led me to this point in my life. How blessed am I!
I’m laughing.
I’m playing.
I’m living MY best life!
