Sometimes in life, you find a special friend. Someone who changes your life just by being part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can’t stop. Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is forever friendship. When you’re down and the world seems dark and empty, your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full. Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times and the confused times. If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows. If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you on. Your forever friend holds your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay. Driving to the mountain today, with my bestie behind the wheel, for my last hike before I head out to Kilimanjaro, she is someone I have known and being friends with since I was 19 years old. As we drove I opened a gift she had left for me on the seat, wrapped in beautiful gold paper. This is what I found inside. A pre-Kili present she called it.

As we drove along, readying the inscription I was reduced to tears. My life is so blessed with the most beautiful souls who walk this journey with me ~ how could I go wrong with friends like this by my side. I treasure your friendship and I love sharing every bit of this journey together ~ We have shared some really sad times together, but that is just how life goes, in the end the good times have far outweighed the hard times ~ I can’t wait to carry this book with me all the way to the top. It’s the die-hard friends I have that have taught me how to be the friend I am. I am VERY blessed to have a select few extra-special close-to-my-heart cream-and-cherry-on-the-top kind of friends – they are a rare find indeed!!!
