When we first talked to each other
I knew we would always be friends.
It’s the times we were so crazy,
that people thought we’re high.
It’s the times we laughed so hard,
we couldn’t help but cry.
It’s all the inside jokes
and “remember whens”.
those are all the reasons
that we became best friends!
Today, 15 years ago you left this world.
So today, I celebrated your life.
It was a beautiful day for such a beautiful girl.
It hurts so much to think that in this world we’re never going to see or talk to you again, that all we have left are pictures, letters and memories that you left behind.
I suppose I should be thankful for that because some people don’t even get that.
I know that in heaven you are with healthy lungs and a strong body that can keep up with your amazing spirit.
I take comfort in knowing that you are somewhere up above, helping others to see life the way you did.
Your illness wasn’t easy, but you didn’t let it break you.
You inspired me and in turn I hope that I can inspire others.
Today, I raised a glass to you and ate all your favourite candy.
I listened to your favourite songs.
I sang out aloud like we did so often and I danced our crazy dance.
I laughed with you and cried for those of us left behind.
You were such a light in the dark and I hope that you continue shine your light somewhere up there for all to see.
I will always miss you, and I will never stop fighting (walking) for a cure for the disease that took your life, but never broke your spirit.
One day I know, when it is finally my time, you will be waiting on the other side with open arms. I look forward to that day when we can share stories of all the mad, daft things everyone here does in honour of your memory ~ we go to some crazy lengths to fight to find a cure! I know you are doing your own mad, daft things up there, because you are strong and brilliant and continuing the legacy of what our friendship was all about. Until we meet again, watch over me as I reach for new heights and I continue to walk 4 you.
You fought hard, breathe easy my sweet, beautiful friend!
~I will always be Walking 4 Air for you ~
