In a short 9 day series I’m going to show you all the best bits about Cape Town and all the reasons why you should visit the beautiful city I live in!
Reason # 7:
Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts
The best place to be on a Sunday afternoon from November to April every year is at the Kirstenbosch Sunset Concerts where they showcase the hottest and best local and international acts.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, nestled against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, is world-famous for the breathtaking views and for the diverse Cape flora it displays.
The concerts, set within the botanical gardens, has a special feel to them mainly due to the breathtaking setting, while part of the summer concert charm lies in the warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, where concert goers picnic on the magnificent lawns on soft grass sloping gently down towards the stage, backed by the natural amphitheatre of Table Mountain’s eastern face. Whether you are there with the love of your life, the kiddies or getting down with friends, the best way to enjoy the concert is to pack a delicious picnic basket, throw in a blanket and don’t forget to pack some wine or champagne and find a spot on the beautiful Kirstenbosch slopes.
In the vast and varied line-up there is always something to appeal to all music lovers, from jazz, R & B, hip-hop, folk, rock to big band swing, there is something for everyone. So if you find yourself on the slopes of Kirstenbosch be prepared to watch as the gardens are transformed into a magnificent outdoor concert venue as the sun begins to set behind the slopes of Table Mountain.
There is truly nothing better than ending off a perfect summer weekend in Cape Town on the slopes of Kirstenbosch while taking in the magnificent surroundings as the musical notes begin to hit your ears.
These are just some of the reasons why Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and the Summer Sunset Concerts land at #7 on my list of reasons why you should visit Cape Town, South Africa.
