Words that can Inspire Millions

Sharing

“…A heartsong is something deep inside each of us. It’s our sense of why we are here and how we can keep going. It is like a purpose. It may be to live as a mommy or a daddy, or a firefighter or a deliver person, or a child with a disability who teaches others about patience and love and acceptance. Heartsongs are usually easy to hear when we are young, but we sometimes get too busy or hurt or angry to listen to them as we get older. And, just like any gift that isn’t cared for or used well, it is possible to forget how to listen to the message of each song, But even if we completely lose our heartsong, we can share someone else’s song until we are able to reawaken or recreate our own. …”~ Mattie J.T. Stepanek

I don’t know what rock I have been living under but just the other day a friend told me about Mattie J.T. Stepanek and a few days later she handed me three of his ‘Heartsong’ books. I had never heard of him before that. Mattie, who lived with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, died a month before his 14th birthday. Wise beyond his years, Mattie from the age of 3, filled pages with words in the form of poems.

As I read through his books, at times, his words moved me to tears. They remind me why I love children so much and why I have a passion and soul purpose to work with them to help heal those who have lost that inner spark. Children so often remind us to see and honour each other, to see the beauty around us, to know it’s ok to question things we don’t understand and that it’s ok to accept that sometimes some things we will never understand but to trust it anyway.

Our world is too often so full of judgements, negativity and hatred.

And sometimes it takes a little boy like Mattie to remind of us of all that is good.

To remind us to see the beauty while simply looking out the window.

To remind us to trust the things we don’t understand.

To remind us to love.

To remind us to share.

To remind us to be gentle with each other.

To remind us to believe in the magic of living.

Mattie’s attitude shows us that we can’t always change what life throws at us, but we can choose how we deal with it – and if we choose right, we will make a difference. So whenever you feel less than fabulous, remember this and may it give you the inspiration you need to face the day.

~ As Mattie says, never forget that even if you have completely lost your heartsong it is ok because there is always someone out there who is more than willing to share their heartsong with you until you are able to reawaken or recreate your own. Yes, thank goodness for earth angels like Mattie and for life’s wonderful little blessings. Happy ChooseDay Everyone! ~
